Meckering
Constructed in the early twentieth century, the Meckering Post Office served as an important communications hub for the Wheatbelt community,
supporting local residents, businesses, and the surrounding farming district.
For many years, it provided essential postal and telegraph services that connected the town with the rest of the state.
The original post office became closely associated with the devastating Meckering earthquake of 1968,
one of the most significant natural disasters in Western Australia's history. Following the earthquake, the building was replaced as the town was rebuilt.
Today, the Meckering Post Office continues to serve the community from a modern facility, while the town's history remains a testament to the resilience and determination of its residents.
