Northam
Constructed in 1908 and opened in 1909, the Northam Post Office is a striking example of Federation Free Style architecture.
Designed by Public Works Department Chief Architect Hillson Beasley, the building has been a prominent landmark on Fitzgerald Street for more than a century.
Built to serve the growing Avon Valley community, the post office included residential quarters for the postmaster, reflecting the important role postal services played in regional Western Australia during the early twentieth century.
It continues to operate as a working post office today and remains one of Northam's most significant heritage buildings, recognised on both the State and Commonwealth Heritage Registers.
